INDIANAPOLIS — To pull off the improbable — to pull off the recovery from the 3-1 deficit — the Knicks needed near perfection from their best players.
They needed three straight games of greatness.
Instead, they got a ho-hum Saturday night in Game 6 from Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns and were sent packing for their summer break, 125-108.
The two were merely players at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, not stars. They combined for 41 points on 16-for-37 shooting (2-for-11 from beyond the arc) with seven turnovers.
