Reconfigured Mets culture is taking over in Queens

Access the Mets beat like never before

Don’t miss Mike Puma’s text messages from Queens and beyond — he’s giving Sports+ subscribers the inside buzz on the Mets.

If you want a good seat for a Mets game these days, you better hustle. This isn’t 2024, when there was little to no belief in the team until the season’s final days.

The 2024 Mets needed a fun run late to finish as high as 18th out of 30 teams for attendance. Stunningly, that was three spots below Colorado, which starts every season with a mile-high mountain to climb. That’s even two spots below Milwaukee, whose entire population could fit into one half of Queens.

Well, these times, they are a-changin’ here, and fast.

There’s a beautiful vibe at Citi Field these days. Whether it’s the Mets’ great finish to 2024, the superfast start in 2025, the record $765 million signing of one-year Yankee wunderkind Juan Soto, or some combination of all three, Citi Field is nearly filled most of these days.
