AOC and Sanders’ spectacle of a tour: Letters to the Editor — April 21, 2025

The Issue: Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Fighting Oligarchy” tour.

It’s comical to watch Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders travel the country to speak to their self-planted audiences about nothing of value (“Love ’em in Boise,” Kirsten Fleming, April 16).

They’re doing exactly what President Trump did while the Biden administration worked on its anti-American policies for four years. The difference is that Trump’s audiences flocked to his rallies because he had a message.

He spoke of his ideas and agenda for a better life for Americans. AOC and Sanders are simply spreading the word as to who they hate.

It’s time for AOC to crawl back behind the bar and for Bernie to crawl back up onto the balcony with the other muppet.

Watching Sanders and AOC rail against the “oligarchy” is an absolute joke.

Sanders, the ancient socialist, has no credibility when he talks about economic justice. He’s a millionaire with several residences. His recent speech in front of an audience of wealthy concertgoers was hypocrisy at its finest.

AOC, the climate fraud, travels to venues on first-class flights and spews the same socialist propaganda. She’s nothing more than a media darling who has yet to craft one piece of legislation to help middle-class Americans.

AOC’s possible run for president is not as surprising as it sounds (“AOC top Dem for ’28 run,” April 18).

Her mentor, Bernie Sanders, was on his way to the nomination in 2020 before Democrats panicked at the prospect of being represented by a socialist.

AOC is the heir to Bernie’s platform, as he demonstrates in their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour. But if her popularity continues to rise, will the Democratic Party finally admit that it should be called the Democratic Socialists Party?

Sanders and AOC are entertainers, distracting from the serious discussion of critical issues. This is why the Democrats have a low approval rating.

How did the AOC and Sanders circus wind up in Idaho?

Even funnier is the turnout of the people who traveled to this inane liberal freak show.

The Issue: The arson attack on Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and his family at the governor’s mansion.

It’s interesting that the person who tried to kill Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and his family was not some right-wing militia member, but rather a left-wing socialist who supported Black Lives Matter and Hamas (“Anti-Jew firebomb,” April 17).

Yes, the Democrats will say he is mentally ill like they always do. But most mentally ill patients don’t burn things down and try to kill Jewish politicians.

If you tolerate violence against anybody — whether it’s burning a Tesla or killing a healthcare executive — then we end up with violence against everyone.

It’s time for leftist politicians to speak out against violence, or their base will eventually turn on them.

Democrats had nothing to say when a federal courthouse was firebombed during the George Floyd riots. Very few came out when President Trump was almost assassinated twice. There is silence when college campuses are overrun by violence. They don’t even condemn the violence against Tesla owners.

But now, because it has happened to one of them, their outrage cannot be contained.
