At least four people have been hospitalized after an active shooter was reported at Florida State University’s Tallahassee campus Thursday, officials said.
The school’s emergency alert system blasted out a warning just after noon urging students to seek shelter after the apparent shooter was reported near FSU’s Student Union area.
“Police are on scene or on the way. Continue to seek shelter and await further instructions,” the alert said.
“Lock and stay away from all doors and windows and be prepared to take additional protective measures.”
Four people were being treated at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, a spokesperson told WCTV. The extent of their injuries wasn’t immediately known.
Footage on social media showed groups of people running through traffic as sirens blasted in the background.
No other details were immediately available.
It wasn’t clear if the campus had been secured.
