Houston squeaks by Purdue on final-second shot to claim spot in Elite Eight

No. 1 Houston survived a late scare thanks to a final-second bucket.

After Purdue tied things with 35 seconds to go, Houston’s Milos Uzan put in a layup with one second left in the second half after a perfectly executed inbound play to send the No. 1-seeded Cougars into the Elite Eight on Friday night.

With 2.8 seconds to go, Uzan inbounded the ball under the basket, caught a quick pass back inside the paint and dropped it into the hoop for the winning shot.

Houston will next play No. 2 seed Tennessee on Sunday.
