March Madness announcers enraged as fan throws water bottle on court during Creighton-Louisville game

A fan threw a bottle of water onto the court during the March Madness 2025 opener on Thursday afternoon, causing a cleanup delay and enraging the CBS broadcast crew.

After Louisville coach Pat Kelsey was given a technical foul with his team trailing by 12 against Creighton with less than five minutes left in the game, a fan chucked the bottle of water onto the court, and enough spilled that a handful people needed to clean it up.

“That was a full bottle of water. That was very dangerous, and it went right over the Creighton bench,” play-by-player Brian Anderson said. “I’ll tell ya, whoever did that should never be allowed to come into this arena again.

“That’s a joke,” Anderson added.

Analyst Jim Jackson called the incident “unnecessary.”

“You get upset about a call. So what? You don’t do this because you’ve got players on both ends that can be affected by that,” Jackson said.

“That could’ve done some real damage,” Anderson replied.

No. 9 Creighton went on to win 89-75.
