Rachel Zegler backtracks after calling Snow White’s Prince Charming a stalker

Rachel Zegler is whistling a different tune about Snow White’s love interest.

Back in 2022, the 23-year-old actor called the Prince character “a guy who literally stalks her,” and promised that the 2025 remake would be more “modern” than the “dated” 1937 animated film.

But in a new interview with Allure, Zegler appeared to change her perspective on the iconic love story.

“Snow White is on her own mission and she falls in love along the way, which is really awesome,” Zegler said. “That’s how life happens. You’re never looking for it, and then all of a sudden, it’s there.”

The actress added, “You can have it all. It’s all possible. Because you are everything you’ve been wishing and waiting for.”

Andrew Burnap plays Jonathan, a character based on the Prince, in the new film. The 34-year-old actor previously appeared in the shows “WeCrashed” and “Under the Banner of Heaven.”

Zegler has been facing backlash for years for her criticism of the original “Snow White” after it was announced she’d be playing the Disney princess in a remake, which comes out Friday.

At Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022, Zegler told “Extra,” “The original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so. There’s a big focus on her love story with the guy who literally stalks her. Weird, weird.”

Zegler also said to Variety at the time that Snow White is “not going to be saved by the prince” in the remake.

“And she’s not going to be dreaming about true love; she’s going to be dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be.”

She addressed her controversial comments in a Vogue Mexico profile in February.

“I interpret people’s feelings about this film as passion for it, and what an honor to be able to be a part of something that people are so passionate about,” she said. “We’re not always going to have the same feelings as everyone around us and all we can do is give our best.”

In her Allure interview, Zegler said that “it’s so important for the next generation” to see “Snow White” and other films like it that portray a battle of good versus evil.

“Anger can be a powerful emotion, but it doesn’t bring the brightest future,” she said. “Snow White chooses kindness and still makes change. Power takes many forms. I hope we’ll see a new dawn of kindness and acceptance in the next couple of years. And people don’t see the need to use hate to cause further division.”

The outlet also asked her thoughts about the reaction to a Latina scoring the role. “The reality is, I was given a chance because I could sing,” she replied.

As Zegler deals with the intense “Snow White” controversies, which includes rumors of a feud between herself and her co-star Gal Gadot, the “West Side Story” star told Allure that she’s gotten support from other actresses — including Ariana Grande.

“She reached out to me — kind of apropos of nothing — and was like, ‘If you need anything, I am here,’” Zegler said about the “Wicked” star, 31.

“She is so deeply kind,” Zegler added. “She has gone through so much in the public eye, and I have always really, really admired her courage in the face of all of that.”

“Jameela Jamil is like a big sister to me,” she went on. “I love that she has no regrets about being outspoken, about being strong-willed and strong-minded.”

Zegler’s “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” co-stars Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu have also been her “keepers in all of this.”

“Snow White” hits theaters on Friday.
