Great: Now city businesses are reduced to carding kids as they enter to cut down on fights and disorder.
What’s the next bit of grim self-protection to be required by progressives’ insistence on enabling crime?
It’s impossible to blame that Brooklyn Target for banning anyone under 18 without an adult escort: Large groups of marauding kids have been acting up in the store, getting in massive fights andattacking each other by throwing milk.
Note, too, that the move is not mainly about shoplifting (which is also an enormous problem for the mega-retailer): It’s about kids who feel empowered by the overall climate of disorder to go buck wild and disrupt the shopping experiences of all the legit customers — as well as forcing the store’s employees to play the role of cops.
Nor is the Target the only biz in the area driven to these measures.
The spot is down the street from a McDonald’s notorious for group teen misbehavior (including ski-masked terror-thug incursions) that already implemented a similar ban on anyone under 20.
This is the future pro-crime progressives offer.
Toothpaste locked up forever.
Drugstores filled with pro shoplifters endangering everyone else.
Bouncers working the door at Target.
As bad as shoplifting and fighting and disorder are, their second-order effects are even more profound.
When customers have to show ID to buy a bar of soap, it drives home the message: You’re not safe here. No one is.
Thanks to the leftist push for “equity and justice,” we get fear, loathing and endless, increasing social decay.
Pending the wholesale rollback of the disastrous criminal justice “reform” laws driving our society down, New York City will keep crawling to full-on dystopia, one accommodation at a time.
