Brooklyn Mirage to reopen with new safety measures after past mysterious deaths nearby

A Brooklyn club that became notorious after a string of deaths connected to the venue is making a comeback — with a series of new safety features.

In 2023 Brooklyn Mirage made headlines when two ravers were found dead in the same nearby creek in separate incidents just weeks apart, and a Connecticut surgeon was allegedly kidnapped. (The two alleged kidnappers walked free after the doctor stopped working with authorities).

Avant Gardner — the Bushwick facility that includes Mirage — hired former Fotografiska and Neuehouse boss, Josh Wyatt, as its CEO back in October, and he announced a massive multimillion dollar renovation for the club.

We’re told that it’ll reopen May 1, “enhancing guest experience and safety,” by investing in new lighting, signage and rideshare drop-off zones, according to the venue.

The club has also hired a “team of trained guests ambassadors, expanded private security patrols, and increased first responder-trained staff” for their clientele.

“When we designed Mirage 4.0, we wanted to honor its original spirit while iterating upon the visitor experience,” Wyatt explained to Page Six.

“From arrival to departure, we have streamlined and optimized for both safety and efficiency,” he added.

Mirage celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, and Wyatt is excited about its upcoming season, which will feature performances by Alesso, Cloonee and the Chainsmokers, among others.

He described the venue as, “more than just a music and cultural venue.”

“It’s a transformative space that has allowed millions of visitors to engage in freedom of expression and self discovery over the last decade… We cannot wait to welcome our loyal guests and a new generation of fans to see and feel the emotion of this mind-blowing space, where culture, fashion, art and music well collide,” he said.
