No bad blood.
Mikey Madison revealed she had a friendly text exchange with Demi Moore after beating the veteran Hollywood starlet for the Best Actress Oscar at the 97th annual Academy Awards on Sunday.
The 25-year-old star cinched the coveted award for her role as a sex worker in “Anora,” marking her first Oscar nomination and win. Madison had steep competition in the category, including Karla Sofia Gascón (‘Emilia Pérez’), Cynthia Erivo (‘Wicked’), Fernanda Torres (‘I’m Still Here’), and Moore (‘The Substance’).
Despite rumors that Moore was sour over the loss based on her one-word reaction and seemingly upset demeanor, Madison said the pair exchanged meaningful messages after the award show.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on Tuesday, March 4, the Oscar-winning actress revealed she “hugged” Torres and “texted with Demi, who I adore.”
Madison also shared her feelings about “The Substance” star, 62.
“She’s one of the sweetest, kindest women I’ve ever met, and I’m so grateful that I was able to meet her and witness her brilliance and talent in person,” she told the outlet.
Madison didn’t stop there, making sure to give Moore her flowers.
“I adore her and I can’t wait to see what she does next, what kind of characters she brings us. I think we’re all so ready and excited to see that,” she added.
Moore was the frontrunner for the Best Actress Oscar after taking home a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice, and a SAG award for her role as Elisabeth Sparkle, an Academy Award-winning actress whose career tanks once she turns 50.
Instead of rolling over, Moore’s character discovers a magic drug that turns her into a more youthful version of herself, but she’s forced to face the reality of the medicine’s harsh side effects.
This was Moore’s first role that earned her any major awards — despite starring in a slew of classics like “Ghost,” “Indecent Proposal,” “G.I. Jane,” “St. Elmo’s Fire,” and “Striptease,” which made her the highest-paid actress in the ’90s with a $12.5 million payday.
On Monday, she broke her silence over the Oscar upset and sang Madison’s praises.
Posting a video of her preparation for the biggest show of the season, Moore kissed goodbye to the award season.
“As this awards season comes to a close, I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude for this journey. It’s been the ride of a lifetime and we’re just getting started!” the actress wrote, signifying that her career would only go up from here.
After thanking her team, cast, crew and fans, Moore added a special shout-out to the “Anora” actress.
“And a huge congratulations to #MikeyMadison — can’t wait to see what you do next,” Moore added.
Her night didn’t end with an award, but Moore made the most of it — indulging in two big bowls of fries after attending Vanity Fair’s Oscars party with her biggest fans: her daughters!
