The 97th Academy Awards will close out the 2025 awards season, which has been filled with a controversy (Karla Sofia Gascon) and a mix of different winners, which should make for an unpredictable show on Sunday.
The 2025 Oscars will honor popular films like “Wicked,” “Conclave,” “The Brutalist” and “Emilia Pérez” – but only one can take home the coveted Best Picture trophy.

What time does it start?
The 2025 Academy Awards will take place March 2 beginning at 7 p.m ET live at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
The Oscars pre-show will begin with “On The Red Carpet at the Oscars” at 3:30 pm ET. It will be hosted by Linsey Davis, Whit Johnson, Chris Connelly, George Pennacchio and Clayton Davis.
Then, “The Oscars Red Carpet Show,” hosted by Julianne Hough and Jesse Palmer, will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET.
What channel is the show on?
The ceremony will air on ABC and, for the first time, stream on Hulu.
“On The Red Carpet at the Oscars” will air on ABC TV stations and affiliates. “The Oscars Red Carpet Show” will air on ABC and Hulu.
How do I stream the ceremony?
In addition to watching on ABC and Hulu, viewers can use live streaming platforms like Hulu + Live TV, YouTubeTV, AT&T TV, and FuboTV to tune in.
Who is hosting the 2025 Oscars?
Conan O’Brien is hosting the Oscars this year for the first time.
“America demanded it, and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars,” O’Brien, 61, said in a statement released by ABC in November.
He previously hosted the Emmys in 2002 and 2006.
It was reported last year that Jimmy Kimmel and John Mulaney turned down hosting the 2025 Oscars.
Kimmel hosted the ceremony in 2017, 2018, 2023 and 2024. Other recent hosts include Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes and Amy Schumer in 2022, Chris Rock in 2016, Neil Patrick Harris in 2015, Ellen DeGeneres in 2014, and Seth MacFarlane in 2013.
Who is nominated?
The full list of nominations were revealed on Jan. 23. “Emilia Pérez” led the pack with 13 nominations.
The 10 films up for Best Picture are “Emilia Pérez,” “Conclave,” “Wicked,” “The Brutalist,” “A Complete Unknown,” “Dune: Part Two,” “I’m Still Here,” “The Substance,” “Anora” and “Nickel Boys.”
The stars nominated in the lead acting categories include Cynthia Erivo, Demi Moore, Mikey Madison, Ralph Fiennes, Timothee Chalamet and Sebastian Stan.
Meanwhile, the list of nominated supporting actors includes Kieran Culkin, Edward Norton, Jeremy Strong, Ariana Grande and Zoe Saldana.
Who is performing?
Erivo and Grande are expected to open the ceremony with songs from “Wicked.”
Doja Cat, Lisa of Blackpink, Queen Latifah and Raye will also be taking the stage. Latifah’s performance will be a tribute to the late Quincy Jones, who died at age 91 in November.
There will also be a performance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
