“Yellowjackets” star Melanie Lynskey needs time alone to recover from filming the intense scenes in the hit show.
“I always drive myself to and from work, so, I sing in the car,” she told Page Six of how she winds down after a tough day of filming, adding that she will sometimes “cry if I have to.”
“It’s kind of my time to be by myself and process how i need to,” she explained at the Season 3 premiere Thursday in Los Angeles.
The actress — who plays adult Shauna in the series which follows a high school soccer team after their plane crash lands in the wilderness and what happens when they return home — teases that this season “crazy.”
“It got crazier than I thought it was going to get,” she told us.
Lynskey has been working closely alongside co-star Christina Ricci, who plays adult Misty, for three seasons now, and have some intense exchanges during the upcoming season.
“It’s wonderful,” she told us of how their friendship and working relationship has grown since the show premiered in 2021. “We really like and trust each other. I think she’s so great as Misty. She’s very fun. She’s very funny.”
She explained that they both have young children at home and respect that the other wants to get back to their family after filming.
“We both at the end of the of the day want to make shooting day go quickly,” she said. “We want to get out of there. We love being at work but we both have little kids and are usually trying to make a flight so. It’s great. It’s just easy and fun and She’s got a lot of great stuff this season.”
As for whether she’s going to be shooting with Hilary Swank, who was announced as a Season 3 guest star, she remained tight-lipped.
“I can’t say anything!” she exclaimed.
