A family home in Australia made headlines this week with a particularly cinematic listing video — featuring the unmistakable Northern Irish lilt of Oscar-winning actor Liam Neeson.
The Herald Sun reported on Tuesday that the family selling their four-bedroom Melbourne home — Dean Fay, his wife and daughters — are friendly with the movie star, who used his “particular set of skills,” to help them market their residence.
The result is a high-octane listing video that paid homage to Neeson’s 2008 film “Taken.” But rather than seeking out his daughter’s kidnappers, Neeson is in hot pursuit of a new home in the suburb of Mulgrave.
The video quickly gained traction online.
“We have done heaps of creative marketing videos, but none of the videos got this huge response,” BigginScott Glen Waverley director Ming Xu told The Post.
The idea for a video showcasing the sunny suburban home came from Xu, prompting Fay to call in a favor from his famous friend. Fay had previously worked as assistant director on Neeson’s 2022 film “Blacklight.”
Although Neeson was too busy to directly appear in the video, he was able to lend his voice.
Xu, who listed the property with fellow BigginScott Glen Waverley real estate agent Jing Chen, told The Post that the listing has since been covered by several TV and radio stations.
“His impact is unmeasurable,” Xu said.
The listing video opens with suspenseful music as Chen receives a call from Neeson and passes the phone to Xu.
“Hi Liam, I’ve got the perfect home for you in Waverley Park,” Xu tells Neeson, who requests a video of the property.
“Sure,” Xu said. “You better be quick, otherwise this home will be … taken.”
“Oh, very original,” Neeson says. “Just get me the house video, Ming.”
A jaunty video of the family’s four-bed, two-bath home follows, featuring an in-ground pool and an open-plan kitchen.
Fay told the Herald Sun that his wife, Sonia, would deliver berries to Neeson for his breakfast yogurt, while he was in town shooting. His daughter, Lucy, has also assisted on some of Neeson’s projects, the paper reported.
Fay told the Herald Sun that he wrote the script, and Neeson made a few tweaks.
“Neeson recorded his voiceover and sent it to Lucy,” Fay told the outlet, adding that Neeson is “a very generous guy.”
At the close of the video, the realtors receive another anonymous call. The realtors learn that Neeson is already in Waverley Park.
“Liam, I didn’t give you the address yet,” Ming says.
Neeson answers “I told you I would find you.”
Cue the cut to black, rolling the credits on undoubtedly one of the most cinematic real estate marketing videos out there. The home isscheduled for auction on March 1, with an asking range of $1.3 to 1.4 million.
