Heartbreaking WWE cuts can be career-changing opportunities more than ever before

WWE cut day should no longer be viewed as a day of mourning, but one of opportunity.

That doesn’t mean it isn’t a sad day, as it should be when anyone loses their job — especially some of our favorite performers. That aspect should never be minimized in any walk of life.

It was reported late last week that Sonya Deville, Duke Hudson, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Blair Davenport, Cedric Alexander, Paul Ellering, AOP (Akam and Rezar,) Isla Dawn, Giovanni Vinci and Elektra Lopez were released by WWE. Many of them confirmed the news on social media.

Fightful Select reported that sources inside NXT believe the moves were made to prepare for a wave of call-ups from the brand later this year. Last year’s WWE Draft was in late April and WWE’s talent pool is as deep as it has ever been, so cuts are a reality that isn’t going away.
