It’s been awhile.
Rilo Kiley last performed at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre on June 18, 2008. In the intervening 17 years, it’s been mostly radio silence — save for 2013’s “rkives,” an album made up of rarities and previously unreleased material — from Jenny Lewis’ beloved indie group.
And, although Lewis announced the band broke up in a 2014 interview, Rilo Kiley is somehow inexplicably back together in 2025.
On Jan. 27, the quartet was announced as a headliner for this year’s Just Like Heaven Festival at Pasadena, CA’s Rose Bowl Stadium on May 10 alongside Vampire Weekend, TV On The Radio, Bloc Party and a slew of other aughts icons.
Shortly after, they were listed on the bill for Salt Lake City’s Kilby Block Party from May 15-18. Other big names set to perform include Beach House, Justice, Weezer, New Order and St. Vincent.
Finally, the “Silver Lining” rockers delivered the news we’ve all been waiting for and shared the dates for the ‘Sometimes When You’re On, You’re Really F—ing On Tour’ with special guest Julien Baker and Torres joining them for one show at Colorado’s legendary Red Rocks Theater on May 14.
“It’s going to be wonderful for us, like going back to the purest version of yourself, that early twenties place where everything is possible,” Lewis shared in a statement. “You’re in a van and Jason’s got the map, Pierre is behind the wheel, and I’m on the s—-y acoustic guitar on the bench seat working out a new song with Blake. I don’t think it’s ever been as good as that, when it was just us against the world.”
As of now, Rilo Kiley doesn’t have any East Coast dates lined up. However, that may change soon.
In a comment on the tour announcement post, the band reassured a distressed fan by telling them “Stay tuned…more to come!”
Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming Rilo Kiley shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale for the newly announced ‘Sometimes When You’re On, You’re Really F—ing On Tour’ dates is Friday, Feb. 7.
