75-year-old man killed in NYC apartment fire that also left 2 others injured: cops

An East Village apartment fire killed a 75-year-old man and injured two other people Sunday morning, authorities said.

The rapid blaze broke out on the second floor of a six-story apartment building on Second Avenue at East Fourth Street around 10:22 a.m., according to the FDNY.

The fire was put out within an hour. While sweeping the building, firefighters recovered the body of the elderly dead victim inside the burning apartment. Two other people sustained minor injures.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The identity of the victim has not been released. The city medical examiner has not determined the cause of death yet.
