Florida men’s basketball assistant coach Taurean Green is the subject of a sexual assault complaint, as the school investigates the program’s head coach, Todd Golden, over allegations he sent explicit photos and videos to women on campus.
Green reportedly arranged a meeting with a woman, who filed a Title IX complaint in March 2024 anonymously, and attempted to kiss her and put his hand down her pants, according to ESPN.
The woman, who had only “exchanged casual greetings” with Green to that point, per ESPN, said no and escaped the situation despite a repeated effort on his part.
Green did not respond to the outlet’s request for comment.
The woman did not immediately report the incident due to Green’s status — the 38-year-old won NCAA championships with Florida in 2006 and 2007 playing briefly in the NBA before professionally overseas — but came forward in December after being interviewed as part of the allegations against Golden.
“The law prohibits us from commenting on the existence or status of investigations,” a university spokesperson told ESPN. “The University of Florida takes these matters seriously and conducts a thorough and deliberate process that ensures due process for everyone.”
Golden remains under investigation for a Title IX complaint that became public in November, with multiple women claiming he made unwelcome sexual advances via Instagram in addition to sending women photos of themselves on campus, showing up to locations he knew they’d be and sending them elicit photos.
Title IX is designed to protect students from discrimination, including sexual harassment. Florida outsources its Title IX investigations to Grand River Solutions, a private firm based in California.
Golden initially signed a six-year, $18 million contract to take over at Florida and agreed to a two-year extension in March 2024 that will keep him at Florida through the 2029-30 season.
His contract prohibits “romantic, amorous and/or sexual relationships between any coach or other employee of the Association and any student athlete or other person subject to the supervision, control and/or authority of such coach or other employee.”
The contract also says the university can take disciplinary action if the coach acts in a manner “that has an ‘adverse effect’ or causes an ‘adverse reflection,’ on the reputation, mission and/or interests” of the athletic department or the university.
