Awkward.
Zoe Saldaña stormed the stage at the Golden Globes 2025 Sunday night after the nominated film she starred in, “Emilia Pérez,” won for best original song.
During the live awards ceremony — held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., Sunday night — composers Camille Audiard and Clément Ducol rose from their seats to accept the award for their winning track, “El Mal.”
As they were headed to the stage, the “Avatar” actress quickly got out of her seat and joined them. Although she sang the original song in the Netflix film, she actually had nothing to do with its creation.
Saldaña, 46, then grabbed the gold-plated trophy from presenters Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh with hopes that she could hand it to Audiard and Ducol herself.
However, Goldblum took the Golden Globe back and handed it to the winners.
The “Guardians of the Galaxy” star then awkwardly stood on stage and watched as Audiard delivered a powerful speech to the audience.
At one point, the French songwriter acknowledged Saldaña, saying that the film “wouldn’t be what it is” without her and her co-stars Selena Gomez and Karla Sofía Gascón.
Fans took to social media to express their opinion about the mom of three crashing the stage.
“Zoe Saldana going on stage to grab the award to hand it over felt awkward. #GoldenGlobes,” wrote one user on X.
“Zoe Saldana we happy for you and all but bitch gtf off the stage #GoldenGlobes,” added another.
“Did Zoe Saldana just pull a Lil Mama on stage,” tweeted a third person, referring to the time rapper Lil Mama infamously crashed Jay-Z and Alica Keys’ 2009 MTV Video Music Awards performance.
“Why is Zoe Saldana on the stage? I know she won (and I do like her) but she really needs to sit down. #GoldenGlobes Her rambling speech was bad enough, but this is just cringe (and disrespectful TBH),” said a fourth viewer.
After the Golden Globes, Saldaña revealed during an interview with “Extra” that she was not supposed to join the composers on stage.
“There I go. I get up onstage, I wasn’t supposed to. They told me, ‘You’re not supposed to get up.’ I remember this morning the conversation with my PR team,” she explained.
“But all of a sudden, it happens, and there’s champagne on the table and then [Jacques Audiard] is telling me, ‘Don’t get up there.’ And Selena is like, ‘Go! Go!’”
Though Saldaña, who was wearing a black sequin Saint Laurent gown, was not supposed to be on stage during the win for best original song, she did take home a trophy of her own Sunday night. She won her first Golden Globe for her role as Rita Mora Castro in “Emilia Pérez.”
