Health Minister Christian Dubé indicates he won’t seek re-election

Appearing on “Tout le Monde en Parle,” Dubé said that running in 2026 is “not my intention.”

In an interview on Radio-Canada’s “Tout le Monde en Parle,” Dubé said it is “not my intention” to run in the next provincial election.

His spokesperson, Audrey Noiseux, told The Gazette later on Sunday evening that the minister was “being his usual honest self.”

She said that while the minister’s plans could still change in the coming two years, he remains focused on current health reforms.

First elected with the Coalition Avenir Québec in 2012, Dubé briefly departed politics in 2014 to join the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec before returning to the National Assembly in 2018. He assumed the health minister role in 2020, taking on a system that was being tested by the COVID-19 pandemic and persistent staffing challenges.

Quebec Premier and CAQ leader Francois Legault has yet to comment on his remarks.
