Romantic proposal upstaged in the worst possible NYC way: ‘I would have ran my a– down the block’

In New York City, nothing says romance like rodents.

The Big Apple is chock full of wild things, from party animals to top dogs, but there’s no bigger beast in the city than rats.

And now, the vermin is going viral for invading a lovey-dovey display that took place in Midtown Manhattan on Thursday night.

In a video shared by content creator, @PaperMiishe, a man was seen getting down on bended knee to propose to his ladylove outside 1221 Avenue of the Americas, right by Rockefeller Center.

The area was decked out with decorations for the holidays, including glittering lights and a large Christmas tree — from which a rat came scurrying partway through the proposal.

“If that was me the rat would have ruined the whole proposal because I would have ran my ass down the block,” wisecracked a creeped-out commenter beneath a clip of a four-legged, fuzzy pest photobombing the romantic moment.

“The rat is so New York,” quipped another.

Sorry, Pizza Rat. Proposal Rat is taking its bite out of the Big Apple.

So far, the identity of the couple — as well as the rat — remains unknown.

But while Proposal Rat might have ruined the scenic “Will You Marry Me?” moment for some, a few not-so-freaked-out New Yorkers say the funky infringer made the big ask even more iconic.

“The rat truly let me know this was an NYC love story,” commented a fan of the interferer.

“The rat was the cue to pop the question,” teased an equally tickled onlooker.

The city’s legendary “Pizza Rat” became an social media star for hauling a huge slice of the cheesy stuff down a set of subway steps.

“Real-life Cinderella,” joked another, likening the new fiancée to the fairytale princess whose pet mice helped actualize her dream relationship.

“The rat is part of the NYC experience,” cheered a proud Gothamite.
