The awful unreality of the case for transitioning kids exposed

If nothing else, this week’s Supreme Court hearing on Tennessee’s ban on sex-reassignment procedures for minors exposed the utter unreality of the pro-child-mutilation gang.

The Tennessee law simply bans hormones, puberty blockers and “transition” surgeries for children under 18.

Chase Strangio, the ACLU lawyer who argued the case before the high court, claims that kids as young as 2 know they’ve been “assigned” the wrong gender and insists the Tennessee law violates the Constitution’s “equal protection” clause by discriminating against trans minors.

“These are young people who may have known since they were 2 years old exactly who they are, who suffered for six, seven years before they had any relief,” he blathered in an interview on the case.

Does he know any 2-year-olds?

Tykes that age are still figuring everything out; adult concepts of gender are a long way off.

And even as they age, they’re in no position to figure out their “real” identity, let alone rationally choose life-altering chemicals and/or mutilating surgery, which is the “relief” Strangio is talking about.

Puberty is confusing for everyone, not least gay people — or for the autistic kids who make up a huge chunk of trans-identifying children.

Actual oral argument before the court was even more telling, as Strangio and Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar made damning concessions — even admitting that the whole “drugs and surgery are the only way to prevent suicide” argument for letting kids transition is evidence-free bunk.

And that “trans” is not an “immutable” characteristic because so many people change their minds about it.

Which makes it clear that Tennessee’s age-based ban is not in fact a “gender” based one.

Embarrassing herself, liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor compared the side effects of gender-reassignment procedures to the risks in taking aspirin, as if sterility, immune deficiencies and other “complications” were trivial and uncommon, rather than frequent.

Not to mention the growing number of detransitioners who deeply regret having had parts chopped off.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was worse, comparing the ban to Jim Crow laws barring interracial marriage.

Children getting life-altering surgery is like adults joining in matrimony how?

Look: Britain and other European nations that had gone farthest down the “let kids transition with drugs and surgery” path have now called a halt, because the evidence shows it’s insane.

Adults get to make their own decisions; only a twisted ideology justifies permanently mutilating children.

And the Supreme Court arguments made that plain: For once, we wish the whole thing was televised.
