Former USWNT defender Ali Krieger said she’s dealt with “a wave of dishonesty and misinformation” regarding her marriage to estranged wife Ashlyn Harris and her personal life.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Krieger asked for “privacy and understanding” after Harris said during a Nov. 25 podcast appearance that she filed for divorce because she didn’t feel “like a priority” to Krieger and claimed they had a sexless marriage.
“I’m overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support I’ve received this last year,” Krieger, 40, wrote. “However, amidst this warmth, I’ve also had to confront a wave of dishonesty and misinformation regarding my marriage and personal life. While I’m not yet prepared to make a formal statement, I feel compelled to address this currently to prevent further distortion of the truth.

“Above all else, my unwavering priority remains the protection and well-being of my children. I promise to share more when my heart feels ready. In this vulnerable time, I humbly ask for privacy and understanding from all involved, as I grapple with the profound changes in my personal life.”
Krieger and Harris — whose divorce was made public in October 2023 — share custody of their two children, Sloane, 3, and Ocean, 2.

Krieger’s message came after Harris denied that she cheated during their four-year marriage while discussing their divorce last month on the “Naked Sports” podcast with Cari Champion.
“[The biggest lie about the breakup is] that I’m constantly pegged as a cheater, which is so far from the truth and she knows it,” said Harris, who is currently dating actress Sophia Bush. “And it torched me.”
A few days later, Krieger and Scottish soccer player Jen Beattie made their relationship public in matching social media posts, which showed them drinking wine together on Thanksgiving.

Harris told Champion “the reality” of the situation was that she and Krieger had nothing in common after they stopped playing together — and that she didn’t feel loved or wanted by Krieger, who wouldn’t “touch me” or be intimate together.
The retired soccer stars were on two World Cup-winning USWNT squads together in 2015 and 2019 — and they dated for nearly a decade before tying the knot on Dec. 28, 2019, in Miami.
Harris filed for divorce on Sept. 19, 2023, citing the marriage is “irretrievably broken,” according to court documents obtained by Page Six. Their divorce proceedings are still ongoing.
In the aftermath of their divorce, Krieger posted about being in “my Beyonce Lemonade era,” which was a reference to the singer’s infidelity-themed album.
Harris retired from professional soccer in November 2022 and Krieger, who last played with Gotham FC, called it a career at the end of the 2023 NWSL season.
