About 500 members of the FTQ-affiliated Syndicat québécois des employés de service are striking Wednesday.
In recent weeks, members of the CSQ-affiliated Fédération des intervenantes en petite enfance have held strikes for a few hours at a time, in both CPEs and home-based daycares. The strike saw the daycares opening later and later from week to week.
Pay is the biggest issue for the unions. The rate for a qualified entry-level educator is set at $21.60 per hour.
