2025 Luxury Car Preview: 10 Top upscale vehicles coming soon

It’s not just EVs and SUVs that luxury-car buyers have to look forward to next year—indeed, the segment seems in for a shake-up

That said, without entering the realm of the uber-expensive sports cars (that’s a whole other list you’ll see covered later) almost all the primo vehicles making the cut here still feature some form of electrification.

Both models come equipped as standard with a 100-kWh (net 94.4-kWh) battery powering two electric motors positioned on the front and rear axles. The Q6 Sportback powertrain puts out 422 hp (456 peak), giving it a top end (electronically limited) of 209 km/h (130 mph). The SQ6’s setup pumps out 483 hp (509 peak), allowing it to top out at 230 km/h (143 mph).

Sophisticated battery-pack thermal management and the 800-volt electrical system make for quick charging. With DC fast-charging provided at a rate of 270 kW, it takes the high-voltage battery only around 20 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% under ideal conditions. Range is estimated to be 443 kilometres (275 miles) for the SQ6 Sportback, 480 km (300 miles) for the Q6, neither figure considered class-leading.

The crossovers are set to arrive spring or summer 2025. Pricing will be announced closer to their launch date, but will likely range from about $85,000 to $105,000.

BMW says the X3 heralds major improvements in efficiency and dynamic performance to both its four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines. The 30 xDrive is powered by a turbo 2.0L four-cylinder boosted by a 48-volt hybrid system. This setup puts out 255 horsepower. The M50 gets the same hybrid system, working with the turbo 3.0L inline-six to deliver a very robust 393 hp. Both engines are bolted to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

An optional M Sport Package delivers a more distinctive look, with features such as 20-inch M alloy wheels, M Sport brakes and suspension, variable sport steering, and design bits engineered to optimize airflow and aerodynamic balance. The optional M Sport Pro Package builds on the M Sport content by adding an illuminated kidney grille (standard on M50); M Sport brakes with a choice of red- or blue-painted brake calipers (blue’s included in M Sport Package on 30, and standard on M50); ‘Shadowline Lights’; full LED headlights with cornering light function; and black exterior trim bits.

The 2025 X3 30 xDrive has an MSRP of $58,900; the X3 M50 xDrive starts at $74,900.

This grandest of tourers will rocket to 100 km/h (62 mph) from zero in just 3.2 seconds, impressive for a car that weighs an SUV-like 2,459 kilograms (5,420 lbs). Top speed is 335 km/h (208 mph). There’s also 81 km (50 miles) of usable electric-only range (at least, when rated on the E.U. drive cycle) and a total driving range of 859 km (533 miles), making it what Bentley says is “an everyday supercar.”

Following in the 21-year tradition of the Continental GT family, the new version gets a comprehensive exterior and interior redesign. The exterior premieres the biggest revision to the face of the Continental GT in two decades, becoming the first mainstream Bentley with single headlamps since the 1950s. As should be expected, the cabin showcases the finest of materials and craftsmanship, introducing “wellness” seat technology, new air ionization, three-dimensional leather textures, new modern quilting, and technical finishes such as dark chrome.

The Continental GT Speed was just awarded Newsweek‘s Most Anticipated New Vehicle title for 2025. You’ll pay a minimum of $365,000 for the privilege of owning one.

The EV SUV comes standard with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Standard chassis damping control and available Air Ride Adaptive suspension, combined with GM’s purpose-built electric drivetrain, should ensure a smooth ride and sporting handling. Vistiq includes a 102-kWh battery pack and puts out 615 hp and 650 lb-ft of near-instant torque. Cadillac estimates the sport-ute will offer 500 km (310 miles) of range. Look for a price starting around $90,000.

Power comes from an 85-kilowatt-hour battery pack with a standard dual-motor all-wheel-drive propulsion system that puts out 300 hp and 354 lb-ft of instant torque. At full charge, Optiq offers an estimated 490 km (304 miles) of range, and DC fast-charging can add up to 127 km (79 miles) of range in about 10 minutes. Drivers can switch between several drive modes, including Tour for everyday driving; Sport for enhanced road driving and improved steering; Snow/Ice to prevent wheelspin; and My Mode, which personalizes the driving experience with adjustable braking responsiveness and steering feel.

The Optiq has a starting MSRP $63,298, making it eligible for federal and provincial rebate programs.

The interior combines premium materials with connected features such as the Lincoln Digital Experience that showcases an immersive 48-inch panoramic display spanning the length of the instrument panel. New for the Digital Experience is Pano Mode, which plays video and gaming apps to either side of the panoramic display when the vehicle is parked.

Then there’s Lincoln Rejuvenate, a “spa on wheels” that automatically adjusts seat position with heat and massage options, climate control, scenting, sound, lighting, and expansive visuals to reduce stress and create a relaxing experience inside the vehicle. No, seriously!

On all models, power is provided by a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 with 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, plus standard four-wheel-drive and adaptive suspension with continuously controlled damping. Pricing starts at $123,500, and another $4,000 for the long-wheelbase version.

Naturally, Mercedes says the sport-ute offers an exceptional electric driving experience, making most daily commutes more economical in all-electric mode without relying on the 2.0L turbo four engine. Further optimizing efficiency, the hybrid drive program prioritizes electric propulsion for the most appropriate driving situations — for example, city commuting. The optional 60-kW DC charging capacity enables a full battery charge to be achieved in as little as 30 minutes.

This year’s list actually contains a couple of automobiles, and a model or two that still rely on the internal-combustion engine

Consistent with the broader GLC lineup, the streamlined packaging structure of the new plug-in hybrid model offers Standard, Exclusive, and Pinnacle Trims, each providing a variety of comfort features and advanced technologies. Standard equipment includes a self-leveling suspension system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, KeyLess-Go and KeyLess-Start and much more. The GLC 350e also features the new third-generation MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system.

The GLC 350e should be arriving in dealerships around now with a base MSRP of $64,900.

Polestar is not being generous with details, but does say the flagship 5 is the production evolution of Polestar Precept, the concept car launched in 2020 to showcase the future ambitions of the company. The interior specifically featured innovative new materials such as natural-fibre composite deco panels made from flax fibre; and 3D-knitted upholstery made from recycled PET, both of which are already making their way into the Polestar 3 and 4.

In Sweden, development of a new electric powertrain is ongoing. A rear electric motor will provide “superior” output, along with the car’s 800-volt architecture. Driving range should be at least 500 kilometres (310 miles). Pricing for the 5 has not been announced, but is guaranteed to be in the six figures.
