The Giants’ biggest decisions haven’t just backfired. They’ve failed on the biggest stages for all to see.
Every failure has been magnified to the extreme.
The latest was Wink Martindale’s masterclass on Saturday, when he orchestrated Michigan’s dominant defense in a stunning 13-10 win over No. 2 Ohio State.
Martindale served as the Giants’ defensive coordinator for head coach Brian Daboll’s first two seasons in charge, but they had a falling-out last season that led to Martindale’s departure. The Post’s Paul Schwartz reported that Daboll and Martindale had a fiery meeting during which Daboll told Martindale he was firing two assistant coaches with whom Martindale was close. Martindale cursed out Daboll and stormed out, and after a messy few days of uncertainty, resigned his position and subsequently took over as Michigan’s defensive coordinator.
