Fires set to three vehicles at three addresses on same street in Dollard-des-Ormeaux

It’s unclear if the fires are linked, police say.

The Montreal police arson squad is investigating after fires were set to three vehicles at three different addresses on the same street in Dollard-des-Ormeaux within hours — two on Saturday night and one early on Sunday morning.

Fires in two vehicles on Louis-Riel St. in the West Island city were discovered around 10 p.m. Saturday, said Montreal police spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier. Both were quickly extinguished by their owners before the fire department arrived — and neither is a complete loss.

Then at about 3:50 a.m. Sunday, several 911 calls were made about a vehicle on fire on Louis-Riel St. near Iberville St. By the time it was extinguished, the vehicle was a total loss, said Gauthier.

Nothing linking the three fires has yet been uncovered, she said, and the arson squad is investigating. On Sunday, investigators were speaking to witnesses and looking for security footage in the area. No arrests had yet been made.

“We are investigating,” said Gauthier. “What is the connection, if there is one?”
