Man, 44, seriously injured in St-Henri stabbing incident

His life is not in danger, police say.

A man was stabbed near a homeless encampment in St-Henri near St-Rémi and Cazelais Sts. late Friday night.

Multiple 911 calls were made shortly after the attack around 11:40 p.m.

The man, 44, was conscious when help arrived, but he was “seriously injured on his upper body,” said police spokesperson Véronique Dubuc. Medical authorities confirmed that his life was out of danger around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

“Police checked the surroundings and located the site of the attack, a homeless encampment of one dozen tents situated on a vacant lot near the intersection,” said Dubuc, specifying that a perimeter had been set up near the crime scene.

Evidence indicates that the victim knew his aggressor.

“The two men were in conflict when the suspect grabbed a sharp object and injured the victim before fleeing by bicycle,” Dubuc said.

Investigators, a forensic identification technician and a dog handler were called to the scene to analyze the scene.
