Plus: The REM will close earlier and open later than usual this weekend.
Montreal will be mostly spared from planned highway closures this weekend, except for ramps at a couple of interchanges and a short detour off of the Bonaventure. Here are problem spots to look out for:
Highway 10
The Bonaventure Expressway will be completely closed toward downtown between Exit 2 (Pierre-Dupuy Ave.) and the next entrance from des Moulins Rd., from 11 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday. Traffic will be diverted to Moulins Rd.
Route 132
Highway 520
REM
Montreal streets
- St-Antoine St.: Will be closed next to the Palais des Congrès (between St-Pierre St. and St-Urbain St.) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Detour is via Notre-Dame St.
Upcoming
The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge connecting Montreal Island with Vaudreuil-Dorion on Highway 40 will be completely closed the weekend of Dec. 6-9 to reconfigure the approaches to the bridge for the winter season.
Continuing disruptions
- Highway 25: Half of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel is closed as part of a long-term renovation project, with traffic sharing the remaining tunnel — one lane toward the South Shore and two lanes toward Montreal.
- Highway 40: The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge is down to three lanes — one in each direction, and one lane that switches directions on weekdays. During weekends, the extra lane is for traffic to Vaudreuil-Dorion. Work on the Charles de Gaulle Bridge on the eastern end of the island will require overnight and weekend closures of lanes, entrances and exits on either side of the bridge.
- Route 117: In St-Laurent, two northbound lanes and one southbound lane are closed on Marcel-Laurin Blvd. between the Décarie Interchange and St-Louis St. for work by the city of Montreal until the end of the year.
- Route 136: The Guy St. exit eastbound is closed until Dec. 8.
- Highway 520: Lanes are closed at Highway 13 and 43rd Ave. until Dec. 20.
- Jean-Talon St.: Work on building the Blue Line métro extension will force parts of Jean-Talon St. to be closed. Affected buses (in particular 141 and 372) are detoured onto Bélanger and Everett Sts. to avoid those areas.
- St-Antoine St.: In the Sud-Ouest, the street is closed between du Couvent St. and Rose-de-Lima St., and traffic is reversed to go eastbound between Rose-de-Lima and Atwater Ave.
- Pie-IX Blvd.: Work to extend the SRB Pie-IX south means only one lane is open in each direction between Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave. and Notre-Dame St. All cross streets are open to traffic.
- St-Urbain St.: The overpass over the Ville-Marie Expressway is closed for a long renovation until the end of 2026. Pedestrian access is maintained.
