“Gilmore Girls” fans are speculating that the beloved TV series is returning after its stars shared photos from the show’s set on social media.
Lauren Graham, Scott Patterson and Sean Gunn — who played Lorelai Gilmore, Luke Danes and Kirk Gleason, respectively — posted pics to Instagram on Tuesday, teasing “something really special” is coming on Dec. 3, sending the show’s devotees into a tailspin.
The snaps included a shot of a coffee mug on the counter of Luke’s diner, shared by Patterson. “Back at #LukesDiner for something really special,” the actor wrote, urging his followers to “tune in 12/3.”
Gunn, 50, posted a photo of the gazebo in the town square of Stars Hollow — the show’s fictional Connecticut hamlet — captioning his post, “Kirk’s 63rd job? Find out on 12/3.” Gunn’s character famously tried his hand at countless jobs throughout the course of the series’ seven season run.
On her Instagram story, Graham, 57, posted a photo of a snow-dusted Stars Hollow street, writing, “I’ve got something brewing,” a nod to Lorelai’s famous coffee addiction.
The set of Stars Hollow is still standing, located on the Warner Bros. studio lot in Burbank, Calif.
All of the stars’ posts added the hashtag #WalmartPartner, which led many fans to believe the trio were promoting an upcoming Walmart commercial — and a possibly a Gilmore-themed caffeinated product.
Some were disappointed; others were ready to hit up their local Walmart to buy whatever the stars were selling, while many prayed that the posts foreshadowed a “Gilmore Girls” reunion and possibly new episodes of the series.
“The Gilmore Girls cast posting about Gilmore Girls in the year 2024 … I’m so up,” one person wrote on X alongside screenshots of the social media posts.
“Ughhhhh I don’t want a f – – king Walmart commercial. I want to know what happens to Rory and Logan!!! And Luke and Lorelei!!!!!!!” a fan bemoaned.
Someone else demanded, “Rory’s baby better be there!!!!!!!!!!!!” referring to the infamous final four words of the four episode “Gilmore Girls” coda that premiered on Netflix in 2016, in which Rory reveals to Lorelai that she’s pregnant (presumably with Logan’s baby).
“It’s going to be like that Mean Girls commercial from last year but honestly that was so fetch I’d be willing to see what they do with GG,” someone else said, striking a more optimistic note.
Last year, “Mean Girls” stars Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert reunited for a series of Walmart commercials promoting Black Friday deals.
Some fans, however, were excited about the possibility of a Walmart-“Gilmore Girls” collab, praying a Luke’s Diner coffee line was in the offing.
“Coffee at Walmart please please please,” a caffeine lover commented on Patterson’s Instagram post.
Many fans hoped the social posts indicated a cast reunion is on the horizon.
“OMG LUKE AND LORELAI REUNION!!” a “Gilmore” enthusiast wrote.
“OH MY GOSH!! IS THERE GONNA BE MORE GILMORE GIRLS?!?!?! WHAT IS HAPPENING????!!!!!” someone else commented, with another exclaiming, “Omg stoppp gonna cry 😭 yeasss please let it be back !!!!!!!!”
Walmart replied to many commenters who wondered where they could tune in on Dec. 3, writing, “Coming to TV & social media near you!”
“Gilmore Girls” debuted in 2000 on the WB before the network rebranded as the CW. The series finale aired in 2007.
The 2016 Netflix four-parter picked up the show’s plot lines nine years after the finale.
