Buster Olney slams Dodgers for dancing on Yankees’ grave after World Series

Buster Olney isn’t a fan of how some Dodgers players have been carrying themselves after defeating the Yankees in the World Series.

Dodgers players including reliever Joe Kelly and utility-man Chris Taylor have been critical of the Yankees after Los Angeles won the World Series in five games.

Olney had some choice words for the Dodgers on a recent edition of ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight” podcast.

“I know this: if the Yankees had won, Aaron Judge wouldn’t have crapped on the Dodgers,” Olney said, as covered by The Big Lead. “Giancarlo Stanton wouldn’t have. Anthony Volpe? No chance.

“I think Taylor’s had a great career, the way he’s adjusted at the plate, he’s adapted to different positions,” Olney continued. “He’s one of the best in the world at what he does. But he and the small handful of other Dodgers who are chirping know better than anyone how hard their sport is to play, and they’re better than this. Why not bask in the glory of an incredible World Series win from the high ground?”

Taylor made inflammatory remarks on Bleacher Report’s “On Base with Mookie Betts” show.

“We’re all kind of thinking it — (the Yankees) kind of (crapped) down their leg,” Taylor said, referring to the infamous comedy of errors that was Game 5’s fifth inning. “They were pressing. It was one thing after the next. … All we’ve got to do is put the ball in play right now.”

On the “Baseball Isn’t Boring” podcast, Kelly ripped the Yankees as lazy.

“We had seen it every single game just let them throw the ball to the infield, they can’t make a play,” Kelly said. “… It was a mismatch from the get-go. If we had a playoff re-ranking, they might be ranked the eighth or ninth-best playoff team.

“You’re putting the Padres ahead of them, you’re putting the Phillies ahead of them, you’re putting the Mets ahead of them, you’re putting the Braves ahead of them, and the Braves just got unlucky because they had to play that doubleheader.

“I mean, the Guardians played like crap, but the Guardians played better [defense] and better baseball all around. It was just a complete mismatch.”
