Workers face charges after toddlers allegedly assaulted at Laval daycare

The assaults are alleged to have occurred during the nap time period at the centre.

Two women working in a government-accredited daycare in Laval’s Vimont district have been arrested and face criminal charges after at least five children under the age of 5 were allegedly assaulted at the centre, local police said on Thursday.

An arrest warrant for a third suspect in the investigation, which was launched in October and based on complaints filed directly with local police, is expected to be executed “shortly,” police said.

The assaults are alleged to have occurred during the nap time period at the centre in the months of September and October.

Police did not make public the location of the daycare nor did they immediately provide details on the nature or extent of the alleged assaults.

Anyone with any information that could further the investigation is urged to call the Laval police information line at 450-662-4636 or call 911 and mention file number LVL-241019-097.
