The Sûreté du Québec has launched a parallel criminal investigation.
Quebec’s office of independent investigations (BEI) launched a probe Wednesday into a Montreal police intervention.
Preliminary information from the BEI suggests the following:
On Wednesday around 2:15 a.m., a 911 call was made by the loved one of a man in crisis inside a residence. Police officers arrived around 2:20 a.m. During the intervention, the man was injured, the BEI says. First aid was given by police officers, and the man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Five BEI investigators have been tasked to investigate, and the Sûreté du Québec has launched a parallel criminal investigation.
