Robert Sanchez had a game to forget as the Chelsea goalkeeper gave away a costly penalty in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Enzo Mareca’s team did manage to leave Old Trafford with a point, though, after Moises Caicedo levelled things up with a brilliant strike in the second half.

Noussair Mazraoui was arguably the best player for United – but who else impressed and failed to shine in the Premier League showdown?

Read on for ‘s full player ratings for both United and Chelsea after the two sides shared the points in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first game as interim head coach…

Manchester United

Andre Onana – 5

A few nervy moments in the first-half including one bizarre pass out from goal that did Casemiro absolutely no favours. Caicedo’s equaliser was well-hit but the Cameroon international could have perhaps got down quicker to deal with his effort.

Noussair Mazraoui – 7

Arguably United’s best player. Coped well with Malo Gusto’s overlapping runs, winning all eight duels he was involved in during the first period.

Matthijs de Ligt – 5

Stood his ground well to deal with Palmer’s driving run early on but did not look comfortable dealing with Chelsea’s fluid attack.

Lisandro Martinez – 6

A sharper performance from the Argentina international after a disappointing start to the season.

Diogo Dalot – 5

Moved back to his regular right-back role by van Nistelrooy but failed to provide much spark down that flank. Booked in the first-half for a wild challenge on Neto, over-committing and paying the price.

Manuel Ugarte – 5

Like Casemiro, lost the physical battle with Caicedo and Lavia in midfield in a tough first-half, woefully giving possession away to almost allow Palmer to scamper through. Was also bamboozled by a wonderful piece of skill from the Chelsea star late in the first-half. Improved on the ball in the second-half, however.

Casemiro – 6

Struggled with Chelsea’s midfield runners and often too slow and ponderous on the ball but did produce the superb pass to pick out Hojlund for United’s penalty.

Marcus Rashford – 6

Denied by the post at the end of the first-half. Looked a threat down the left but was replaced in the second-half, shortly after being shown a yellow card for dissent.

Bruno Fernandes – 7

Slotted home United’s penalty. A relatively quiet afternoon otherwise but was involved in creating United’s best opportunities prior to their opener.

Alejandro Garnacho – 4

Missed two huge chances, curling a tame effort straight into the arms of Robert Sanchez in the first-half. Offered up a woeful effort midway through the second half, completely miss-hitting from 12 yards out after Fernandes’ cutback. Couldn’t quite keep a better effort late in the game down and on target.

Rasmus Hojlund – 6

A few poor decisions on the ball with Garnacho frustrated by his inability to release early passes on the counter. No touches in the Chelsea box in a poor first-half but brilliantly took down the ball mid-air to win his side’s penalty.

Man Utd substitutes – 5

Amad Diallo was brought on after 73 minutes, little impact on the game. Joshua Zirkzee came on for the final seven minutes – immediately presented with a chance to race through on goal after a wonderful flick from Fernandes but didn’t have the legs to capitalise. Victor Lindelof came onto replace Ugarte in an unusual midfield role, little impact on the game.

Chelsea

Robert Sanchez – 3

Didn’t have a save to make until the 25th minute, and even then, it was a very comfortable one from Garnacho’s tame effort. His downfall came after the break when he clumsily hacked down Hojlund, giving away a penalty which was scored by Fernandes after the United captain sent him the wrong way. One to forget.

Reece James – 6

Not much to report from the first-half. Moved to his natural right-back position after the break, having started the match on the left. Did well to stop a dangerous cross getting to Garnacho around the hour mark.

Levi Colwill – 5

Could’ve – and probably should’ve – put Chelsea ahead on 14 minutes but he smashed a rebound wide after Madueke hit the post.

Wesley Fofana – 6

Probably the most solid Chelsea defender on the pitch overall. But not a huge amount to shout about.

Malo Gusto – 6

Got the better of Marcus Rashford down the right several times, causing United a few problems. Gave away a dangerous free-kick right on the edge of Chelsea’s box, though, and was lucky United didn’t punish him. Hooked off at half-time.

Romeo Lavia – 7

Classy first-half performance and largely kept Chelsea kicking over. His calmness and stability unlocked Caicedo’s excellent passing abilities. Replaced after 72 minutes when he needed a rest.

Moises Caicedo – 8

Best Chelsea player on the pitch. Expertly pounced on a sloppy Casemiro pass early-on. His impressive pressing on Ugarte led to a brilliant chance for Palmer inside the opening 10 minutes. Scored in the second half to level up the match.

Pedro Neto – 6

Relatively quiet first-half but did show great speed and flexibility to get past Dalot a couple times. Went close with a fine effort on 55 minutes which flew narrowly wide of the post.

Cole Palmer – 6

Looked his dangerous self early-on with a deflected strike after just nine minutes. Another deflected strike around 10 minutes before half-time. Real moment of class just before the break with a brilliant touch and going past two United players as if they weren’t even there, but nothing came of it in the end.

Noni Madueke – 5

Huge miss on 14 minutes from three yards out – he really should have put the ball in the back of the net when he was that close to the goal. In his defence, though, it may have been disallowed anyway for a possible push on Casemiro. In the second half, United’s defenders were able to manage him with relative ease.

Nicolas Jackson – 5

Pretty quiet game for the Chelsea striker with not too much to report. Did set up a nice chance for Fernandez with around 15 minutes left after holding up the ball in the box but his teammate blazed his shot over the bar.

Marc Cucurella – 6

Came on at half-time to replace Gusto and instantly made an impact. Saw a strike blocked around the 66th minute.

Other Chelsea substitutes – 5

Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez came on too late to have a real impact.
