Giants vs. Commanders prediction, odds: Take Washington in first half

The Giants will try to snap a three-game losing streak when they host the Commanders on Sunday afternoon.

Playing at MetLife Stadium has been a nightmare for the Giants, who average 13.7 fewer points at home (7.8) than on the road (21.5).

Big Blue’s lack of offense has often turned the home supporters against them, potentially making the environment even more toxic.

With these teams at opposite ends of the spectrum in the conference and division, one has to wonder if the Giants have much to play for.

At 2-6, they have approximately a 1 percent chance of making the playoffs.

The bookmakers opened with Washington laying three points, and the line has jumped a point across the market.

Though I agree the Commanders are deserving favorites, laying four points on the road does feel a bit steep in this spot, even with the Giants’ struggles.

A better play would be to target Washington in the first half.

The Commanders defense has improved dramatically since allowing 37 points in a Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers and 33 points in a Week 3 victory over the Bengals.

Betting on the NFL?

And though they gave up 30 points to the Ravens in Week 6, all three of those opponents rank among the NFL’s top 10 offenses by FTN Fantasy’s DVOA metric.

The Giants offense ranks 23rd, and they’ve yet to cover a first-half spread at home this season (0-4).

The play: Commanders first half -2.5.
