Tom Brady is under fire for calling Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen a slur during a live Fox Sports broadcast Sunday.
During the Bills’ game against the Seattle Seahawks, the retired Super Bowl champ said Allen, 28, sometimes plays “like a spaz.”
The word is a derogatory term that derives from the word spastic and is used to discriminate against people with disabilities, particularly those with involuntary movements.
One critic wrote via X in response to Brady’s remark Sunday, “Highly offensive to people who have physical disabilities as well as their loved ones.”
Another weighed in, writing, “I thought I heard that! Someone’s gotta tell him he can’t say that on tv.”
However, others defended the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, with one person noting via X that the backlash was the “perfect example of political correctness jumping the shark.”
Another agreed they didn’t think the word was harmful, adding, “This generation is a bunch of weenies.”
Page Six has reached out to Brady’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back. The NFL star has not addressed the criticism either.
We also reached out to Fox Sports and Allen’s rep for comment but did not get an immediate response.
In May 2022, Brady signed a monster deal with the network, in which he would reportedly earn $375 million in 10 years.
The former New England Patriots quarterback made his official broadcasting debut on Sept. 8 when the Dallas Cowboys played against the Cleveland Browns, and he appeared to play it safe for his first game.
According to a reporter from The Post, Brady came across as warm with a “graceful tone, striking a balance between showing enthusiasm for the action on the field while remaining relaxed and at ease.”
However, a few weeks in, it appears he has grown more comfortable with his on-air banter.
The ex-football player is still a novice to broadcasting, as he just retired from the NFL in February 2023.
Brady said in a video on Instagram at the time, “I’ll get to the point right away: I’m retiring for good.
“I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first.”
The decision came after the father of three devoted 23 seasons to the league, and in the final years, sacrificed a lot of time from his family, putting a strain on his marriage with Gisele Bündchen.
The former couple — who tied the knot in 2009 — confirmed their divorce in October 2022.
Bündchen, 44, has since moved on with jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente. It was just announced earlier this week that the couple is reportedly expecting their first child together.
Brady — who shares son Benjamin,14, and daughter Vivian, 11, with the supermodel — has not yet commented on his ex’s pregnancy.
