A Delta Airlines plane had to abort takeoff on Monday after smoke was seen billowing out of its engines as it accelerated on a runway in Las Vegas.
Delta Airlines flight DL777 was delayed for several hours at Harry Reid International Airport on Monday morning after the Atlanta-bound flight was denied takeoff due to engine issues, according to flight-tracker data.
“Looks like it’s coming out of the engine…it’s on fire,” one onlooker remarks as smoke billows from the plane, according to the video clip obtained by Storyful.
A Delta spokesperson confirmed to The Post that the Airbus A330 experienced the problem “as it was accelerating before takeoff.”
The plane — with 261 passengers and nine crew members onboard — was then towed back to its gate. There were no injuries.
“Emergency personnel inspected the aircraft on the runway and determined that ignited fuel exited the engine as designed,” Delta said. “The aircraft will undergo inspection and maintenance.”
The airline worked to re-accommodate passengers to get to their destinations.
The plane eventually landed in Atlanta at 3:23 a.m. Tuesday morning, flight data shows.
