Dax Shepard teased his wife, Kristen Bell, for not kissing him the same way as she smooched Adam Brody in their hit Netflix show, “Nobody Wants This.”
Shepard appeared on a panel at the New Yorker Film Festival on Saturday when he was asked about his “incredible chemistry” with his wife both romantically and professionally, according to People.
“Not as good as her and Brody,” he quipped.
The “Armchair Expert” podcast host, 49, pointed out one specific kissing scene between Bell and Brody, both 44, arguing it was the “very best kissing scene ever, ever put on film.”
“And my best friend, Aaron, from childhood, he goes, ‘Does she ever kiss you like that?’ No, I didn’t even know she could kiss like that,” he joked.
The hit Netflix series — which is loosely based on creator Erin Foster’s love story — follows Bell, who plays an agnostic podcaster, as she falls in love with Brody, a single rabbi, while they attempt to balance their different beliefs and families.
Fans will continue to see their love story play out since the show was recently renewed for a second season.
Bell — who has been married to Shepard since 2013 — previously spoke about her and Brody’s onscreen chemistry and teased that her husband also approved.
“Even I can acknowledge watching it, like, ‘Whoa, that’s hot,’” she said in an interview with eTalk earlier this month. “My husband said the same thing.”
“Watching the first episode he was like, ‘Oh my god, I want you to kiss him so badly,’” she said of her husband.
The “Veronica Mars” actress explained that “there is a math” to her and Brody’s characters having an onscreen connection.
“You have two actors that know how to stare dopily into each other’s eyes, and you have to have the confidence to expand that and really sit the anticipatory value before the kiss — which I think is really important,” she added.
Bell recalled feeling like the whole thing ended up being “lightning in a bottle.”
