The mother of Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice has been charged with allegedly stealing a package from her neighbor in Texas.
Marsha Kearney was wearing her son’s jersey when she was captured on surveillance video in late September appearing to steal an unopened package from her neighbor’s porch that had Chapell Roan records inside.
A warrant was issued for her arrest on Oct. 8 and she turned herself in to the Tarrant County Sherriff’s Office on Oct. 15 on one count of misdemeanor theft.
Kearney is due in court next month.
Kearney was also charged with theft earlier this year after she was accused of stealing an assortment of household items which included “food, tumblers, laundry products, merchandise and socks.”
The case got dismissed after Kearney abided by “unspecified conditions,” TMZ reported.
Rice, the Chiefs receiver, is in his second NFL season.
Last year, he had 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns in the regular season and was a key component of the offense as the team won the Super Bowl championship in his rookie year.
After appearing in four games for the Chiefs this season, Rice underwent surgery to repair his LCL.
He is expected to be out for the season, but the Chiefs have not made the final call to put him on season-ending IR, so there’s a remote chance he could return for a postseason run.
Rice had a tumultuous offseason as he caused a multi-car wreck while racing a friend on the highway in Texas in broad daylight in March.
He faces eight charges related to the incident, and presumably NFL discipline once the case is adjudicated.
Rice was also accused of punching a photographer at a nightclub in May, but there are no legal ramifications from that incident as the man declined to press charges.
