The suspects are believed to be a group of men wearing black bandanas or balaclavas.
The incident was reported around 8:30 a.m., RCMP said in a news release.
The driver was shot after being approached by several men in a vehicle while driving near the White Star elevator; the victim was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
The suspects, three or four men, may be wearing black bandanas or balaclavas. They are believed to be armed with a gun and are considered dangerous, the release said.
They were seen driving a white 2020 Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab with a green tool box and Saskatchewan licence plate RNF 50 in the area of Highways 55 and 123 near Prince Albert.
They were seen around 10 a.m. with a gun, heading north on Highway 123 toward Cumberland House, an updated release said.
RCMP warned people in Thunder Rapids and the surrounding area to “seek immediate shelter or shelter in place and close and lock doors and windows. Do not leave a secure location. Be cautious of someone asking for a ride. Do not pick up hitch hikers. Do not disclose police locations. Be cautious if not in the immediate described areas.”
