Liam Neeson is happy being single.
The action movie star, 72, confirmed that he is not dating 15 years after the death of his wife, actress Natasha Richardson.
“No, in a word. I’m past all that,” he said in an interview with People published Wednesday.
Leeson and Richardson were married from 1994 to 2009, when the “Parent Trap” star passed away after suffering head trauma following a skiing accident in Quebec, Canada. Richardson was 45.
“It was a horrible thing to happen,” Neeson said about the tragedy.
The couple are parents to sons Micheál, 29, and Daniel, 28. The boys were 13 and 12, respectively, when their mom died.
Micheál changed his surname from Neeson to his late mother’s maiden name to honor her in 2018.
Neeson told People that after Richardson died, his priority was his sons and “making sure they were okay.”
“Everybody just pulled together,” he said, crediting his mother-in-law, Vanessa Redgrave, and his sister-in-law, Joely Richardson, for helping him with the kids in the aftermath.
“We were fortunate in lots of ways,” Neeson added.
The “Taken” star’s oldest son has followed in his parents’ footsteps as an actor. Micheál even worked with his famous dad in the 2020 comedy-drama movie “Made in Italy.”
“I think Natasha would be proud,” said Neeson. “I hope so.”
Neeson met Richardson in 1993 while working on the Broadway show “Anna Christie.” They got married at their farmhouse in upstate New York in July 1994, two years after Richardson’s divorce from her first husband, Robert Fox.
Years after Richardson’s death, Neeson recalled visiting his wife in the hospital after her skiing accident. He was told by doctors that Richardson, who was flown to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City after her injury, was brain dead and on life support.
“I went in to her and told her I loved her,” Neeson said in a 2014 “60 Minutes” interview. “Sweetie, you’re not coming back from this. You’ve banged your head. It’s — I don’t know if you can hear me, but that’s — this is what’s gone down.”
Neeson also revealed that the couple “made a pact” that if either of them ended up in “a vegetative state,” the other person would let doctors pull the plug.
“So when I saw her and saw all these tubes and stuff, that was my immediate thought. Was, ‘OK, these tubes have to go. She’s gone,’” Neeson shared.
Before Richardson, Neeson was in relationships with Helen Mirren, Brooke Shields and Barbara Streisand.
