The Issue: President Biden’s comments appearing to call for former President Donald Trump’s imprisonment.
In another gift to the Donald Trump campaign, President Biden flubbed live on national television, saying that Trump is dangerous and it’s time to “lock him up” (“Joe calls to ‘lock him up,’ ” Oct. 23).
In the past several months, the American people have seen the weaponization of the Justice Department against Trump — and are not comfortable with it.
If the federal government can be weaponized against a political enemy, then it can be weaponized against anyone.
With this gaffe, it almost seems like Biden is working to undermine the people who pushed him out the door.
Meanwhile, the Democrats repeatedly refer to Trump as a fascist threat to democracy.
The real threat is the Democratic Party.

The great bumbling deflector is at it again.
The Democrats are panicking, but all this obnoxious anti-Trump rhetoric is sure to backfire against them.
Biden, not Trump, should be locked up for what he has done to this country.
Biden is a pathetic old curmudgeon, and his incompetence has been clearly exposed.
I’m not sure who is more foolish: Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris.
Watching Biden make a total buffoon of himself should be an embarrassment: but then again, past history is indicative of future history.

If anyone should be locked up, Joe Biden should get the call.
He’s been asleep at the wheel for the past four years.
Now, while campaigning for his vice president, he reveals how much he despises Donald Trump.
So much so that his rhetoric actually becomes persecution.
The vendetta is obvious to American voters. In fact, the more the president “contributes” to the Harris-Walz campaign, the more her polling seems to take a hit.
Keep up the good work, Joe.
We couldn’t do it without you.

I can’t think of anything more outrageous than Biden stating we have to “lock him up.”
This comment deserves to loudly denounced by both Republicans and Democrats.
Biden has been a divisive factor in our fragile democracy and must be rebuked.

The Issue: Daniel Penny’s murder trial beginning in Manhattan Criminal Court this week.
My thoughts and prayers are with Daniel Penny as his trial begins (“Jurors and jeerers,” Oct. 22).
I hope he gets a jury with common sense.
On that day, Daniel Penny became a hero and victim at the same time.
A hero for risking his life to protect the others in that train car.
A victim because he was charged with murder, when it was obviously self-defense.
Hopefully the justice system works for this very honorable man.

Let me run this by The Post’s readership: We have dozens of documented cases of criminals who are in this country illegally and are committing horrendous crimes — including rape and murder — and yet receive little to no jail time.
At the same time, we have the Manhattan District Attorney trying a legal US citizen and Marine veteran for murder because he defended his fellow citizens riding on the subway.
Who knows what the guy might have done.
Should Penny have ignored the situation?
Someone else could have died.
Would that have been OK?
This country is going down the drain, and personally, I find it embarrassing to say that I am an American citizen.
Penny does not deserve this treatment.
