Pedestrian, 52, killed in Okotoks motor vehicle collision

The fatal collision occurred along 15th Street, near the Edison Badminton Centre

A woman from Eden Valley died Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Okotoks.

The fatal collision occurred along 15th Street, near the Edison Badminton Centre on the north edge of town. According to the Okotoks RCMP detachment, the woman and one other pedestrian were walking on the roadway when they were both hit by a passenger vehicle travelling northbound.

“Unfortunately, a 52-year-old female resident of Eden Valley, Alta., was declared deceased at the scene,” RCMP said in a news release.

The other pedestrian, a 25-year-old female resident of Okotoks, was transported to a Calgary hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and the injured female,” the release stated, adding an RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation continues.

Okotoks RCMP is advising that the collision scene was cleared in the early morning hours and that traffic can now resume in the area.

Fifteenth Street runs parallel to the southbound lanes of Highway 2A.
