Laura Dern called Liam Hemsworth “the safest person” to work with after filming their “Lonely Planet” intimate scenes.
The pair share several steamy sequences in the Netflix romance, and the 57-year-old actress has said she was “so lucky” to have worked with someone as safe as her co-star.
She told People Friday, “By the time we were doing those scenes, there was nothing we couldn’t talk about together and work out creatively, professionally, all of that.
“But we also had a lot of support. We had much, much discussion.”
The picture follows reclusive novelist Katherine Loewe (Dern), who travels to a writer’s retreat in Morocco, only to meet a young man named Owen Brophy (Hemsworth), who eventually becomes her lover.
The “Jurassic Park” star added that the modern moviemaking process was “incredible” because it allowed actors to “set boundaries” and stay comfortable with one another during intimate scenes.
She said, “[It is] incredible … that film and filmmaking have changed so that everyone is comfortable in their voice and can set boundaries comfortably without fear of losing a job or being unpopular.
“We both, as young actors, have had a lot of other kinds of experiences on movies.”
As she loved working with the “Hunger Games” star on “Lonely Planet,” Dern revealed she was hoping a follow-up film was on the cards.
She said, “I’m feeling a sequel for sure.”
Hemsworth previously revealed he signed on to the flick simply so he could work with Dern.
Speaking with Screen Rant, the 34-year-old actor said: “No tricks on this one. We had a connection from the moment we met and sat down.
“I came onto this project because Laura was a part of it already; the chance to work with Laura was a huge opportunity for me, and I was so excited by that. But coming into it, I’d heard great things about her.”
