Etobicoke-born comedian and talk-show host Mike Bullard has died. He was 67.

Multiple news outlets confirmed Bullard’s death on Sunday afternoon with CTV reporting that he was found dead in his apartment, citing his longtime friend and Yuk Yuk’s co-founder Mark Breslin.

Bullard’s cause of death was not immediately known with The Canadian Press reporting that he was dealing with health problems and an autopsy report was expected later in the week, according to his half-brother Chuck Jackson.

Family learned of his death on Friday, Jackson said via CP.

Bullard spent time as an MC and a standup comedian at Yuk Yuk’s before hosting two late-night talk shows: CTV’s Open Mike with Mike Bullard (1997-03) and The Mike Bullard Show on Global (2003-04). He won a pair of Gemini awards for his work on Open Mike, which enjoyed rare success as a Canada-based late-night talk show.

Among other endeavours, Bullard also hosted Beyond the Mic with Mike Bullard on NewsTalk 1010 before being charged with criminal harassment and obstruction of justice for allegedly stalking a former girlfriend.

In June 2018, he pleaded guilty to harassing communications and two counts of breaching court orders. He was given a conditional discharge, including six months of probation and an order to attend a domestic violence program.

The other charges were dropped.

CTV reported that no funeral arrangements had been made yet for Bullard and that family was asking they be able to grieve in private.
