Hit-and-run in Pineridge sends man to hospital with life-threatening injuries

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision

A man was hospitalized after a hit-and-run in a Pineridge alleyway on Friday afternoon caused him life-threatening injuries.

The collision occurred at about 12:30 p.m., according to CPS, when a male pedestrian walking eastbound in the alleyway behind the 6700 block of 26th Avenue N.E. was struck by a newer-model white Jeep Cherokee.

“The pedestrian walked in front of the vehicle, which accelerated suddenly and struck the pedestrian before turning left in a circle and striking a fence,” CPS said in a Saturday news release.

He was transported to the hospital, where it was determined he had suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.

The driver involved did not remain at the scene of the collision, say police, who added speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the collision.

The incident remains under investigation, and anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
