Jenna Fischer appeared to be in good spirits while out and about in Los Angeles this week, days after announcing she had been diagnosed with — and subsequently treated for — breast cancer.
The “Office” alum was photographed flashing a smile while taking a solo stroll on Thursday.
Fischer, 50, kept her look casual in a white buttoned blouse, which she paired with cropped blue pants and gray sneakers. She held onto glasses with one hand and a black leather tote in the other.
The actress kept her hair pulled back in a messy bun, accessorizing with a blue-and-white gingham headband and black sunglasses.
The outing marked the first time Fischer has been photographed since announcing on Tuesday that she had been diagnosed with stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer in December 2023.
After “completing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation” earlier this year, the “Office Ladies” podcast co-host is now cancer free.
She shared an emotional Instagram post featuring a sweet photo with her husband and kids celebrating her finishing her treatments with a bell and confetti.
“Back in October of 2023 I posted a photo of myself on Instagram preparing for my routine mammogram with a joking reminder to ‘take care of your ticking time bags’ a la Michael Scott,” Fischer wrote, referring to Steve Carell’s beloved character on the hit NBC sitcom.
Fischer later learned that the results were inconclusive, so she went in for further testing with an ultrasound and biopsy.
The results ultimately led to her being diagnosed with the “aggressive form of breast cancer.” However, she also noted that it was thankfully “also highly responsive to treatment.”
By January, she was undergoing a lumpectomy to remove the tumor and eventually began 12 rounds of chemotherapy in February and three weeks of radiation in June.
“I lost my hair during chemotherapy but thanks to some great wigs and hats with hair (which my family affectionately called Wigats) I have been able to wait until now to reveal all that has been going on for me,” Fisher shared.
Despite the intense treatments, Fischer assured fans that she is “feeling great” and continues to be cancer free after she was “recently re-screened.”
The “The Actor’s Life” author urged her followers to always remember to schedule their annual mammograms, because her “tumor was so small it could not be felt on a physical exam.” If she had waited any longer, “it could have spread.”
Fischer went on to thank her “amazing village” that included her husband, Lee Kirk, their 13-year-old son, Weston, and their 10-year-old daughter, Harper.
She also gave a special shoutout to her “best friend” and “Office” co-star, Angela Kinsey.
