Phillies fans are down bad after devastating loss to Mets: ‘Might check into AA’

Phillies fans were in their pheels after the Mets knocked their team out of the postseason on Wednesday night.

The Mets defeated the Phillies 4-1 at Citi Field to continue their surprise playoff run, but 117 miles away at Xfinity Live, next door to Citizens Bank Park, Phillies fans were wallowing in the loss that ended their season, which included one woman who listed the Francisco Lindor grand slam as a low point in her life.

“So there’s a couple of low points in my life, my dog passing away and them hitting a grand slam. The grand slam took the cake,” Courtney O’Neil told WFMZ-TV, a local news station based in Allentown, Pa. “I feel like I might either check into AA, therapy, or an institute of some sort, because this is crap. It’s bull crap.”

Lindor’s sixth-inning grand slam turned the tide of the game, which the Phillies had been leading 1-0 up until that point.

But the result was hard to come to terms with for the Phillies fan, who said she wanted everyone from the bartenders at Xfinity Live to her best friend gone.

“I want everyone gone. I want the bartenders gone, I want Xfinity gone, I want my best friend gone. I want them all gone. This is bull crap,” she said.

Other fans seemed to take the loss with a little bit more acceptance.

“I’ve already hit the 5th stage of grief. It’s called acceptance. Acceptance that this team will not win for the next five years probably,” Jack Delvecchio told the outlet.

The Mets and Phillies series this year marked the first time that the two NL East rivals had faced one another in the postseason.

The Mets will now move on to face the winner od the series between the Dodgers and San Diego.
