Police report no arrests, two incidents at Oct. 7 protests in Montreal

More than 500 SPVM officers patrolled downtown on the first anniversary of the Israel-Hamas war.

No arrests were made in relation to Monday’s events, police say. The SPVM reported two incidents from the protests and said investigations are underway.

McGill University said in a statement Monday night that one of their security guards was assaulted during a student protest. The university told The Gazette it is likely up to the individual to decide if they will file an assault complaint, not the university.

McGill’s campus will remain closed to the public until Oct. 13 and is only accessible to students until then, The Gazette has learned. Wire fences block all entrances to the downtown campus, guarded by McGill security.
