Saskatoon police investigate multiple bear spray incidents

Saskatoon police reach out to the public for help with their investigations of four separate bear spray incidents over the weekend.

City police are investigating four separate bear spray-involved calls they received over the weekend.

They found two women at the scene, “suffering from the effects of bear spray,” the release said. The women were treated by paramedics and firefighters.

After initial investigation, police believe “the incident took place at the corner of 21st Street East and Second Avenue South.”

The suspect fled before officers arrived, though the release said the suspect and victim are believed to know one another.

On Saturday, around 6 p.m., officers responded to another report of two people being bear sprayed, this time in the 200 block of First Avenue South, the release said.

Paramedics were already treating them at the scene.

Police said the suspect is described as a man in his early 20s, about six feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

A few hours later, around 11:30 p.m., officers were called to the 3300 block of Fairlight Drive for a report of an injured man, who had been bear sprayed, the release said.

They arrived to find a man suffering the effects of bear spray and he was treated by paramedics.

The suspect fled before officers arrived.

Finally, around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a call of a man being bear sprayed in the 100 block of Avenue R South, the release said.

They found the victim on the scene, but the suspect fled before they arrived.
