Man dies after falling from car on Route 273 near St-Agapit

An autopsy will be performed to determine whether the individual had consumed substances that might have altered his behaviour.

ST-AGAPIT — A man in his 30s lost his life early Sunday morning when he jumped or fell from a moving vehicle on Route 273 heading south near St-Agapit in Quebec’s Chaudière-Appalaches region.

At about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, emergency services were called about a person stretched out on the ground along Route 273.

An autopsy will be performed, said Sgt. Élizabeth Marquis-Guy of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), to determine whether the individual had consumed substances that might have altered his behaviour.

The driver, a woman in her 50s, was not injured, she said. Police would not say what the relation was between the driver and her passenger.

SQ investigators and experts in collision reconstruction were at the scene to establish the causes and circumstances of the event and Route 273 was closed until about 9:30 Sunday morning.
